Oregon's Premiere snow kite event

Snow Daze 2009
The 2009 Snowdaze Event was a great success with steady winds
and excellent weather. The 2nd annual Snowdaze event is organized by
the Southern Oregon Kite Addicts. A kite club promoting the sport in the
Southern Oregon area. Co-founder Matt Thames & Jason Jermain had doubts has the
weather was very hard to predict before the event. “Things could not have worked
out better” says Matt Thames, “We had a great turnout and huge press coverage
this year, I think everyone who came out had fun and that is what’s important.”
Eclipse Kiteboarding made a considerable presence this year,
Courtesy of NW rep. Dale Johnson. There was a full line-up of the 2009 kites,
Including the newly infamous wave dedicated “Kima” and the new designed Nano.
Both kites got rave reviews and people became very eager to try them out. The
2009 Thruster was absent for the event, but the 2008 was available and everyone
loved the Thruster for its famous hang time.
As the freestyle session started the camera’s came out and
the show began. Many spectators who have never seen snow kiting we’re very
impressed with the sport. Even the local news came out to capture the event.
After a great day of sunshine and wind it’s now time to come to a close. But not
before the after party! With one of Oregon’s best live performances, the “T”
club. The band played an amazing show and the party just kept getting better as
local shops Kite-line.com & KiteZombies.com donated free shwag for the ultimate
gear give-away.
After arriving back at the Snowdaze venue on Sunday morning
we discovered fresh snow to cover up the tracks from yesterday and a steady
15knt breeze. ”sometimes the stars align”
